What are you doing this weekend?

What are your plans for Labor Day weekend?  Whether you’re planning on hitting the town, or just laying around here at Waterford Place and soaking in some sun at the pool, the goal is to have fun this weekend.  Right?

Well, if you need some help in that direction, here are a few of the fun events going on this weekend in Louisville

First Friday Trolley Hop (September 3, Downtown Louisville) A tour of downtown Louisville’s art district, taking participants to several different art galleries located on the Main, Market, and Fourth Street strips.

ZooTember Movie Night (September 3, Louisville Zoo) Enjoy a fun family movie under the stars at the Zoo! Special $5 admission after 5:00 p.m. includes pre-movie activities, games, access to Zoo exhibits, and a viewing of the movie Up at sundown.

Worldfest (September 3-4, The Belvedere) WorldFest is Louisville’s annual celebration of the unique cultures that highlight our community. The two-day festival includes Saturday’s Parade Of Cultures, a naturalization ceremony that will welcome approximately 400 immigrants as full U.S. citizens, and the largest collection of local ethnic restaurants, vendors, and exhibitors at any one event in the state of Kentucky.

Kentucky Bluegrass Music Festival (September 4-6, The Water Tower) Live music, great food, bourbon and brew.  Need we say more?  The Water Tower is located at River Rd and Zorn Ave, Louisville, KY, 40201.

This weekend: Louisville Brewfest and Independence Festival

Make sure you celebrate your freedom this weekend…your freedom from regular beer, that is.  The Louisville Brewfest kicks off on Friday, July 2, at 4:00 p.m. at the Mellwood Arts Center (1860 Mellwood Ave.).

The fest will feature local, independent brewers providing samples of their new, creative and unique brews.  Admission is free, however you must be 21 to participate.  Samples are doled out for tickets that cost $1 each.  One ticket will get a you brew sample, and if you like it, you can get a full glass for three tickets.  Oh yeah…and there will be food also available for tickets.  What’s better than sampling food and beer all afternoon?

Participating brewers include: BBC Tap Room, Bluegrass Brewing Company, Browning’s, Cumberland Brews, Falls City Brewing Co., Kentucky Ale, New Albanian and River Bend Winery.

Independence Festival on the Waterfront (July 3-4)

If you’re still looking to celebrate more on the 3rd and 4th, head over to the Waterfrong for the Independence Festival.  They have a wide variety of musical guests lined up for the free, two-day celebration, including: John Rich & Cowboy Troy, Tyler Dickerson, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Arrested Development and Bettye LaVetteFireworks will go off at 10:00 p.m. each night!
